Under the Director of Behavioral Health Services, the Behavioral Health Therapist, Provides evidence based practice to both adults and children. Responsible for providing behavioral health support to assist individuals in improving health status and managing their illnesses. Perform screening/evaluation of individuals for mental health and substance abuse disorders as well as conducting brief interventions for individuals with behavioral health problems. The BHC will work cooperatively with a patients care team to maximize outcomes by developing joint plans with medical provider on behavioral health aspects of patient care. While the Licensed Clinician will deal with typical mental health problems like depression and anxiety, the work will also include helping patients change behaviors that exacerbate primary healthcare problems such as diabetes, chronic pain, hypertension, etc. as well as delivering preventative care such as smoking cessation, weight management, and stress management education. Has the ability to perform duties consistent with Standards of Practice, goals and philosophy of United Community Health Center.


  • Masters (preferred)
  • MSW, LCSW, LCPC, Licensed Psychologist, or LMFT (Preferred)
  • The Therapist must possess a valid Iowa license.
